PATRICKSWELL NATIONAL SCHOOL MID-TERM UPDATE

Hi all,

We have nearly reached the Mid-Term Break, and have approximately seven weeks of the school year completed already. We have had a good beginning to the year and lots of fantastic things  have been happening around the school and already it looks like the months of November and December will be very busy.

NEW CODE OF CONDUCT:

Every household should have received a copy of the new Patrickswell National School ‘Code of Conduct’. Please read this document carefully, sign the appropriate section on the front page and just send this section back into the school. The main part of the document should be kept at home and discussed with your child occasionally. This will re-enforce the school rules with your child. This new ‘Code of Conduct’ will be in use from after the Mid-Term Break.

Our Girls’ football team had a great victory in their semi-final of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscoil City Competition on last Wednesday when they defeated Gaelscoil an Ráithín by a goal. The team really played well and showed great teamwork during the victory. They have now qualified for the City Final which will be a great occasion in the Gaelic Grounds. This game is fixed for 10.30am on Tuesday November 6th– all support would be welcome. Some of the classes will also be attending the match! Well done to the Girls, Mr O Connor and Mr. Quaid!

NEW ENROLMENT/ADMISSIONS FORM:

We are sending out a new enrolment/admissions form and we would appreciate it if a form is completed for every child in the school. It is necessary to do this to comply with the new GDPR regulations that have been put in place this year. Also, it gives us a chance to update any information that we may not be aware of in the school. It is vital that the ‘Health’ section is filled in as comprehensively as possible. We need to know anything about your child’s health that could have an effect on them in school. Please take time filling these forms in properly. Finally, as your child is already in the school there is no need to attach a passport photograph- a photo will be needed by new applicants from this year forward.

A BIG THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to everyone who made our ‘I’m a Celebrity’ fundraiser such a fantastic success- the participants, our sponsors, our organising committee and everyone who attended. It was such an entertaining night- Well done to Stephen Moore on winning the title of ‘King of the Jungle’.

Upcoming Events:

We have lots of exciting events happening in the next few weeks- Of course on this Thursday 25th October, we will be having our annual Halloween Fancy Dress Day. All the children , who participate in the festival of Halloween, should come to school that day dressed in their Halloween costumes. We are looking forward to seeing them! On the same day we will have our Spelling Bee. Will we have a new champion or will last year’s champion- Max from 4th Class- retain his title? Then shortly after we return after our week off we will have our annual ‘Friendship Week’ and this will be followed by ‘Science Week’. It might be time to start thinking of what experiment you might bring into school this year!

Well done to the boys that represented the school  at the Ard Scoil Tournament l at the Na Piarsaigh grounds last week…what a day for it and our boys did great…thanks to Mr O Connor for accompanying them!

Credit Union Art Competition:

Nearly every pupil in the school entered the Credit Union Art Competition. This year’s theme  was  “The Force of Nature” and some of the artwork produced was amazing! Well done to everyone!

Finally, don’t forget to look up our website- www.patrickswellns.ie . Lots of new blogs and photos have been added. Also, the new ‘Code of Conduct’ and  new ‘Enrolment’ form will be added to the website this week.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and safe week off.
